WHEY PROTEINS--NUTRITIONAL VALUES

             The nutritional values of proteins from a physiological perspective are evaluated on the basis of following parameters:- 

1.Essential Amino Acid Profile 

            The details about essential amino acids are already mentioned. 

            A Table showing Essential Amino Acid Profile for Whey Protein, Casein, Soya Proteins, Egg Protein, Wheat and Rice Protein is given hereunder:-

2.Biological Value (BV) 

            Biological Value measures the amount of protein nitrogen that is retained by the body from a given amount of protein nitrogen that has been consumed. Recent research findings indicate that whey proteins have the maximum biological value in comparison to other sources of protein. 

3.Protein Efficiency Ratio (PER)

            The Protein Efficiency Ratio (PER) is used as a measure of growth expressed in terms of weight gain of an adult by consuming 1 gram of food protein.

             Board on the above information, it is established by nutritional experts  that only 14.5 gram whey proteins in native form will satisfy the Daily Requirement of Essential Amino Acids as compared to 17.4 gram Egg Proteins; 12 gram Whey Proteins are equivalent to 20 grams of Casein Proteins in terms of weight gain.
